Turkish Culture Introduced in Schools in Indonesia

The interest in Türkiye and Turkish culture continues to grow daily, thanks to the activities conducted by the Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) around the world.

Yunus Emre Institute’s representative office in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, regularly hosts events to showcase Türkiye’s rich cultural values to a diverse audience.

Yunus Emre Institute in Jakarta presented Türkiye’s cultural richness to Indonesian middle and high school students at Kalem Schools, one of the country’s most prestigious educational institutions.

Yunus Emre Institute in Jakarta hosted a series of events, including conferences, exhibitions, and gastronomy activities, to showcase Türkiye and Turkish culture at Kalem Schools, which serves over five thousand students.

K.H. Zahid Purna Wibawa, Director of Kalem Schools, stated, “We offer scholarships to outstanding students to support their education abroad. In this context, we asked the Yunus Emre Institute to organize a program that would give our students a closer look at Türkiye. I would like to express my gratitude to the Institute for the diverse activities it organizes.”

“We are receiving requests to promote Türkiye and its culture”

Dr. Cemal Şahin, Coordinator of YEE in Jakarta, noted, “We continue to see the positive impact of our Institute’s activities in Jakarta.  We are receiving requests from prominent educational institutions in the capital to promote Türkiye and its culture. To date, we have organized activities showcasing Türkiye in nearly 10 schools. As part of our efforts, we are also working to include Turkish as an elective foreign language in the national curriculum by engaging with key stakeholders in various institutions.”
