The Yunus Emre Institute in Washington, D.C. and the Consulate General of Turkey in Chicago would like to invite you to our event for the screening of "Ayla: Daughter of War" at the Gene Siskel Film Center. "Ayla" tells the true story of an orphaned Korean girl who is discovered by the Turkish soldier Sergeant Suleyman during the Korean War. The two form an unbreakable bond as the war goes on and Ayla becomes a symbol of hope for all the Turkish soldiers.

The movie not only tells a story of hope and love in a time of war but also about how the world came together years later to reunite Ayla and Suleyman. As such, we feel that it is important to bring people together for a night of remembrance in honor of all those from around the world who gave their lives in defense of South Korea and it’s people.
