Turkish Consulate in Chicago & Michigan State University Host "Turkish Passport" Movie Screenings

With the support of the Yunus Emre Institute, the Turkish Consulate in Chicago and Michigan State University hosted special viewings of the documentary "Turkish Passport" for a diverse audience. "Turkish Passport" that tells the story of how the Turkish government provided Jews fleeing Nazi Europe with Turkish passports. Hundreds of Jews were saved by this act of courage from those in the Turkish government.

Following the film at Michigan State University, the group enjoyed Turkish coffee and Turkish dishes as Turkish professors led a discussion. Their analysis was followed by a question and answer session. The event at Michigan State was co-sponsored by the Center for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies, James Madison College, and the Foreign Service Organization.

The film screenings at the Turkish Consulate in Chicago and Michigan State University were held in recognition of International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
