“Turkish Summer School” has opened its doors to everyone
The Turkish Summer School program which was first delivered in 2010 and has hosted almost three thousand students to date, has brought in something new this year: Normally the summer school program is for foreign students learning Turkish either at Yunus Emre Institute’s overseas branches or at the Turkology departments of foreign universities that have a protocol with the Institute. But this year, the program opened its doors to everybody who wants to learn more about Turkey and the Turkish language.
“Enjoy, Learn and Explore”
The summer school program which in essence aims to teach students the Turkish language also gives them the opportunity to learn about Turkey and the Turkish language by taking part in cultural, artistic and sigh-seeing activities. Students who are hosted in different cities in Turkey have the chance to improve and practice their Turkish language skills by taking language classes which are delivered by expert instructors at the most popular universities in their host cities as well as to personally see the natural beauties of different regions. Students of Turkish Summer School program visit many historical, geographical and cultural sites during their city-tours and attend cultural activities and training workshops in traditional handcrafts such as henna nights (a traditional hen party) and marbling, pottery, cooking, musical instrument or folk dance classes. The program brings together people from different geographical regions on the common platform of Turkish language and give them the opportunity to interact with different cultures. As their host, Yunus Emre Institute covers our guests’ two way tickets to Turkey and all other expenses on their needs during their stay in the host cities with their guides and teachers.
